Are you writing any other books right now? – Kershia

One of the weirdest things for me about success is how it sucks away your time. I’m successful because I write books, but that very success takes all my writing time! It’s very frustrating. I’m just itching to get back into a fantasy world right now, but the real world won’t let me. I thought this would be a writing year, but unless you count emails as writing, it didn’t work out that way. I was able to do a few smaller things that will show up here and there—an extra chapter for the release of The Host in paperback, that kind of thing. I’ve really worked to clear my time, but that is a slow and ongoing process. Of course, another aspect is that I am more burned out by the last five years than I even realized.

If you had to choose, would you rather be a vampire or a werewolf? – Kaitlin Theodore

Werewolf. I like being able to change my mind, and the werewolves always have the option to go back to “normal.”

I am curious, when you think of Edward and Bella, or read or talk about them, do you still picture the people from your dream? Or has your images of these characters changed over time, especially now after seeing your books adapted to film? Thanks! Danyeal Jones

When I read the books or think about the characters in a writing scenario, I still see them they way I first did. I can still see exactly what they looked like in that first dream. When I’m reading the script, however, it’s all Kristen and Rob and Taylor.

‘Twilight Saga: New Moon’-skådespelaren säger att hans klasskamrater brukade reta honom för hans skådespelar ambitioner, som påverkade honom, men han vägrade att ge upp sin dröm (vilket JAG vet är jättebra).

Han säger: “Jag hade aldrig särskilt mycket självförtroende. Eftersom jag var en skådespelare pågick en liten mobbning. Inte fysisk mobbning, men dem retades för vad jag gör… Jag var bara tvungen att intala mig själv att jag inte skulle ta åt mig av det. Det här är vad jag älskar att göra. Och jag kommer att fortsätta göra det.“

Och det skulle han inte gjort heller, för nu är han världens snyggaste, finaste, bästa skådespelare! Aaaaw, han är min!

Häromdagen upptäckte jag det igen. Supersnackis som jag aldrig hört talas om. Den här gången var det en film som hette Twilight. Det var något om en åldersgräns som inte passade någon i smaken. Och jag blev så trött. Kände mig så svag. Och så tog jag sats igen.

Jag “hyrde” Twilight för att ta reda på vad allt handlade om. Och har nu sett den under de senaste fyra kvällarna. Ja, det är så vi nyblivna föräldrar konsumerar film – i etapper. Och jag kände ingen besvikelse. Jag kände lycka! Vilken ljuvlig liten film! Otroligt vacker vampyrpöjk blir kär i bleksnygg flicka och kärleken är besvarad. Men det är svårt, de lever ju så olika liv. Och hur ska han motstå lusten att äta opp henne?

Stephenie Meyer om Midnight Sun:

I’ve found that there really isn’t any answer I can give that changes the substance or tenor of the myriads of requests, pleadings, and demands I get for Midnight Sun to be finished, so I feel a little silly answering that question at all. But it’s the most popular question, so I’ll take another stab at it.

I am not working on Midnight Sun now. I don’t have a plan for when I’ll get to it; I don’t know now what the right time for it will be.

In your questions, there were some erroneous conclusions about the situation which I’ll try to set straight. First, Midnight Sun is not finished and locked in a safe, waiting for me to be done angsting over the leak. If it were done, I would be throwing it on the bookstore shelves myself. I’d love to be able to give it to all the people who are anxiously waiting for it. Second, I am not upset about the leak. I haven’t been for a long time; I was over it after about three weeks. Third, and most important, I am not trying to punish anyone. Not the persons who leaked it, not the people who read the leak, nobody. As I said, it would make me very happy to be able to give it to anyone who wants it.

So why the hold up? Because it’s not finished and lying in a safe. It’s not done, and finishing it is not a simple matter of sitting down in front of my computer and typing out the words; the words have to be there in my head to type out, and right now, they’re not. I have to be in the zone to write any story, and trying to force myself into that zone is a waste of time, I’ve found. I’ll get back to Midnight Sun when the story is compelling to me again. Just because people want it so badly does not make it more write-able; kind of the opposite, actually. I need to be alone with a story to write, and Midnight Sun feels really crowded, if you know what I mean.

Twilight. It's a book. It's a movie. And now, it's in your heroin!

This is definitely what Stephenie Meyer was going for when she first imagined beautiful Edward Cullen and Bella Swan for the first time.

Heroin baggies with Twilight characters were seized recently in West Hempstead, Long Island. Yep, Edward Cullen will stare you down as you shoot up. Oh, intelligent drug dealing at its finest.

DEA Special Agent Erin McKenzie-Mulvey tells TMZ that the themed baggies have been gaining popularity over the last couple of months and that a dime bag of heroin in New York is cheaper than a six pack of beer.

Don't think Ashley Greene doesn't work hard to get her super-sexy body that everyone and their mother and grandfather and weird uncle saw on the big screen this weekend.

The secret to her skinny New Moon figure? Just don't eat, kids!

At an event on Saturday night, the actress told Celebuzz,

"It was really easy. We were working 12 hours a day, so it didn't leave too much time to eat."

Hmm...sounds fishy, Ash. Seems like Taylor Lautner was pretty well fed on the set.

Even her publicist was kinda shocked by her matter-of-fact response (since, ya know, advocating starving yourself when you're in the biggest movie of the year is kind of, um, bad and not so role model-ish).

After a quick nudge from her PR girl, she quipped that when she did eat, it was "really healthy stuff, which was nice."

Costarring William Hurt, Mario Bello and Eddie Redmayne, the movie explores the relationships between three strangers who embark on a road trip through post-Katrina Louisiana. Stewart plays Martine, a teen who hopes to escape her family, while Hurt plays Brett Hanson, a man who has to choose between his ex-wife (played by Bello) or what’s next.

“The part of Kristen in Twilight is completely different from the one she plays in The Yellow Handkerchief, which is particularly interesting for Kristen’s fans all over the world,” says the film’s Oscar winning producer Arthur Cohn. “In my personal opinion, from a pure acting point of view, The Yellow Handkerchief was a more difficult part to play.”

Cohn says that Stewart got the part thanks to the recommendation of one famous former costar.

“It was Jodie Foster, whom I respect and admire, who wholeheartedly recommended Kristen,” he says of her Panic Room costar, “and has always considered her a truly excellent young actress.”

Those were creepy. Were they actual contacts?
They’re hand-painted contacts. I’ve never worn anything in my eyes before, so it was definitely a feeling I’d never experienced. But they have someone to put them in and take them out. You can kind of feel them. But you get used to it after a while.

Did they help you get in character?
Yeah, I think you automatically have kind of a creepy look to you no matter what you’re doing or saying, so it definitely helps.

Did you have a sense of what part you wanted when you auditioned?

They had me going out for Jared at first. Any part was fine. I knew it was going to be a huge movie. Next thing I know, they told me I had Sam. When I read the book, I thought more about his character. He’s tragic; he never wanted this—to be the leader of the wolfpack—but that was what he was thrown into.

Well, first I went out for Sam Uley, the wolf pack leader. We did this whole scene from the book that they took out, because they weren’t releasing anything from the script. So it was a scene where we’re at Emily’s house and we discover Victoria — who’s a vampire — had been killing on the reservation. So we figure out who’s been killing all these people and hikers and bikers on the reservation, and we figure out it’s a vampire. So it was that scene, and I had to kind of like play a quarterback and tell people what they needed to do. The hard thing about that, in the book, Sam is described as 6’4” and with a deep voice. You know, like a leader. And I’m 5’11?. I don’t have a deep voice. So I was trying to act like something bigger. Then luckily enough, Joseph said, “Let’s try this.” And he gave me one single line. He gave me a [lede-in], “Come in Bella, we won’t bite.” And I had to look at the camera and say, “Speak for yourself.” But the way I did it, it was so naughty. I blew a kiss, gave a little wink. Like, really naughty. And it was based off of that one line that I got the role of Paul.

Tish’s starting off point for creating the look of (very old) Volturi? “What I did originally was go back as far in antiquity as I could to where there were visual representations of judicial gowns in sculptures and paintings. I wanted to find something that the audience would recognize as an official robe, but still have the flavor of the 14th or 15th century.” The heavy wool robes were made by the costume department, though each had a different kind of trim and sleeve detail.

BEING "SO JANE"

Are you glad you got to play Caius?
I was originally auditioning for the role of Demetri in New Moon, and then they said, “We think you’d be more fitting as Caius.” And I said, “Well that’s very kind of you, I’d love to come along and play him.” And I was aware of the character, I was aware very much of the particularly strong presence the Volturi have in Breaking Dawn.

How did you prepare to play a Volturi?
The thing is it’s not like we’re going in blind to this job. There’s such history, particularly with the Volturi and the animosity they have toward werewolves. So to prepare for it I didn’t do anything particularly special, per se. Michael Sheen talks about having studied the characters that scared him for his character, but Stephenie [Meyer] also writes that Aro has a voice like feathers. It’s picking up things like that that can really help you. And once you get the costume and the makeup and the contact lenses in it all sort of falls into place anyway.

The December 4th issue of Entertainment Weekly hits newstands on Friday and features three different covers for “Team Jacob”, “Team Edward” and “Team Bella” with Taylor Lautner, Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart on their respective fronts.

What was your biggest fear going into [opening] weekend?
CHRIS WEITZ: I didn’t have any particular fears. The tracking numbers were enough to indicate that I wouldn’t be letting the studio down. But if one could imagine their biggest fears, it would be complete rejection of the movie, by the fans. What I’ve realized over the last week is I won’t necessarily get good reviews for this movie. Having swallowed that, this was made for the fans, and if you don’t get it, then you don’t get it.

Did the negative reviews surprise you?
Nothing surprises me in terms of reviews. Having been a reviewer myself, there are only two ways to spin this story. You can either be the one guy who says this is a great movie, or more likely, take a more jaundiced view of the whole thing. And given the media blitz that has accompanied New Moon, it’s rather unsurprising. I do wish there was more appreciation for cinematographer Javier Aguirresarobe. I think he’s a genius and I think he made something beautiful.

A lot of fans say they like the movie more than the book, that New Moon was their least favorite book in the series.
New Moon takes a lot of time to read and you have a lot of time without Edward in the picture. And here in the compressed scenario of the movie, there is less time without RPatz. And the fact that Taylor [Lautner] does such a great job, to the reading audience who’s been very skeptical of him, here he is in the flesh, and it’s quite something.

What do you think is Taylor’s best scene?
When he jumps into Bella’s room. There is so much pathos there even though it’s melodrama, there’s something touching about it. Or maybe the last moment he has, just when he says Bella’s name. You sort of understand just how crushed he is at that moment. There are a few times where he’s absolutely that guy and it’s really lovely. He’s that guy for the fans and that’s what I always thought he could do.

Do you think Kristen evolved as an actor in this movie?
I’m not sure she evolved as much as she had room to run. She’s a thoroughbred as far as actors go. To me, she can do know wrong. The experience of working with her and the caliber of work she was doing was pretty extraordinary. Let’s put aside girl in love with a vampire, her ability to manifest these emotions below the surface, above the surface just to get things right. She’s extraordinarily exacting of herself and in those moments where I was able to give her the room to do that are things I’m very proud of.  That’s a high point.

You made the movie you wanted to here?
Yes, pretty much. In terms of what I wanted to do with the gloss of the picture, the look of the picture, I’m very satisfied with it. And satisfied to touch back with the crew and the actors and to feel we made it under humane conditions as well. No actors were harmed in the making of this movie.

What about dealing with the paparazzi? Did you have any run-ins?
I did a bit of a Sean Penn at LAX. When we were leaving for the European tour. We had left from our L.A. press junket to go to LAX and someone nearly ran us off the road trying to get to one of the cars. We were followed by eight different vans and there was some really dangerous driving. And I understood for the first time how things happened to Princess Diana (I don’t think I’m Princess Diana), and I understood for the first time why celebrities lash out and what’s that about. My first thought upon getting out of the car was, “Who was that driver of the car?” I never found him, but I did lift someone by the hood. A photographer. He was in my way. They have a legal right to be there but they don’t have an ethical right, and he was obstructing my path, and there was someone else I threatened to knock their teeth out. It’s not like me but I felt very protective at that moment and very attacked. There is a huge difference between the attention of the paparazzi and the attention of the fans. The fans have been lovely. The paparazzi in my opinion are a very low form of primate.

“There will be a commentary track,” Weitz revealed, saying that he’ll soon head into the recording booth with his three big stars, Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner. “It’ll just be us riffing off each other in our intimate way,” he grinned. “We kind of like each other, so that should be fun.”

In addition, fans can look forward to picking up a copy of “Twilight in Forks,” the independently made documentary that teased fans with brief glimpses of its exploration into the real-life town that inspired Stephenie Meyer, only to be snatched up by Summit in September. An insider told MTV recently that the film will not be re-edited but will hit DVD alongside “New Moon” with all-new packaging and artwork.

Judging by the insatiable appetite of Twilighters, they’ll be filling DVD stores in the first quarter of 2010, eager to glimpse the deleted scenes Weitz plans to unveil for the first time.

“There will be probably about 20 minutes of deleted material,” he explained, promising some meaty footage. “It really is good stuff and a bonus for the fans.”

Among this bonus footage could be several moments MTV knows was shot but did not make the final “New Moon” cut, including:

» A scene with Rachelle Lefevre as Victoria driving to Forks in a car, snacking on a dead human. It was one of the final moments the actress filmed as the nomadic vampire.

» A scene with the human characters eating Burger King.

» Another scene with the humans, this time with Justin Chon and Michael Welch expressing jealousy over Edward’s car.

» More scenes with the Volturi in Italy.

» An extended cut of the scene where Mike Newton quotes Shakespeare to Bella in the Forks High parking lot; in it, he does a Marlon Brando impersonation.

» Scenes alluding to the ongoing breakup between Newton and Anna Kendrick’s Jessica.

“When I made the film, I wanted it to arrive at a certain kind of flow and cadence,” Weitz said of why he had to leave so many scenes on the cutting-room floor but hopes to restore many for the DVD. “[They would have affected] how the movie worked, and they didn’t completely fit. But there’ll be some groovy stuff in [the DVD].”

You took on an edgy vampire movie and it’s become this. Did you know what you were signing up for?

I had no idea it was going to be like this. I really had no idea until … I guess I still don’t. The time that it hit me really was when we were shooting in Italy and the emotional reaction — it wasn’t just screaming. It was like people were so intently listening and watching. After every take there was polite applause. And it wasn’t hysteria. It was literally devotion to the characters. It was amazing. I haven’t felt that in any other situation.

"It's my birthday. Can I ask for something? Kiss me."

OK, Miss Romatic, you can put away the tissues now. Something tells us you went to pieces every time you saw RPattz and K-Stew lock lips (or imagined he was kissing YOU). That's why this totally Bella-rific line has your name written all over it. Could your own crush handle the hotness?

Way more shirtless boys!

We all hoped to get a glimpse of Edward’s alabaster chest in Volterra, but who knew we’d get to see so much hot werewolf skin? Thankfully, the Wolf Pack run such high temperatures and explode away their clothes so frequently that cut-off jeans and no shirt are their shared ensemble of choice.

We get more fights, including an awesome Volturi throw down.

New Moon the book is infamous for its slow pacing, thanks to Bella’s crippling depression (see below). So it’s a good thing that the film throws in fistfights, wolf skirmishes, and chase scenes to liven things up a bit more. Our favorite: watching Volturi guard Felix put the smack down on our precious Edward, a scene crafted for the film.

Instead of talking to herself, Bella sends emails to Alice.

New Moon, like all of the Twilight books, makes frequent use of Bella’s internal voice-overs to tell us what’s going on in that angsty head of hers. In New Moon, Bella writes emails to her lost BFF, Alice, to work through her issues. We still get the voice-overs, but they’re cleverly disguised as Bella’s messages to Alice, and therefore much less ”Vampire Diaries.” (Also, creating a movie email address for Alice was a clever way to sneak in product placement for Apple’s MobileMe email application.)

Bella’s (a little) less mopey than she is in the books.

Much of the book is devoted to Bella’s heartbreaking, months-long break-up depression, so it’s a good thing that the film condenses her lost period a bit for the sake of storytelling. Critics complain already that Bella spends so much time staring into space, pining over Edward; if only they knew how much more we/she suffer in the books! Thankfully, Rosenberg’s script snaps Bella out of her funk and moves on, sort of, in a relatively short span of time.

Bella’s months-long depression, in the blink of an eye.

Fans were wondering how Chris Weitz would treat the infamous ”lost” months of Bella’s depression, which are depicted by blank pages in the book. After all, October, November, December, and January fly by as voids of nothingness to the girl. Weitz and Rosenberg’s solution? A clever scene where Bella sits listless in front of her window as the camera moves around her to show the changing seasons outside. The trick captures her melancholia and is perfectly punctuated by Lykke Li’s haunting, wistful track, ”Possibility.”

Edward doesn’t hide Bella’s photos.

In the book, when Edward decides to break up with Bella and leave town, he also sneaks into her room and hides her photos of him so that she’ll have no reminders at all that he existed – a complete and total abandonment. (Can you imagine a world without pictures of RPattz? It would be horrible, indeed.) In the film, we see him in her room, but there’s no messing with photographs, which would have been an unnecessary minor plot point anyway. Plus, those folks who think Edward’s a little stalker-like might have been even more creeped out by him rifling through her stuff. Instead, we get the full impact of Edward’s absence in Bella’s misery.

An exceptional feat for a film playing outside the summer frame.

There were an array of estimates being reported on the internet about how high the first day of “New Moon” actually was. This morning’s figure is Summit’s official Friday estimate.

“Dark Knight” had minted $67.2 million from 4,366 runs on July 18, 2008 before making a three-day opening weekend of $158.4 million.

Fueling the Friday B.O. for “New Moon” were midnight shows in 3,514 venues which drew a record-breaking $26.3 million for the time slot.

The opening day for “New Moon” posted more than a 100% gain over the first Friday of “Twilight” which made $36 million a year ago and a three-day weekend of $69.6 million.

In the movie—an adaptation of the Guy de Maupassant short story of the same name—Thurman will play the wife of Duroy's friend. Thurman's character, a Parisian socialite, aids Duroy in his climb to the top and eventually marries him.

According to four people close to the movie, “The Twilight Saga: New Moon” sold more than $22.2 million worth of tickets in midnight shows last night, beating a record set this summer by “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.”

Two people close to the picture said the exact gross, which is still being calculated by Summit Entertainment, could be as high as $26 million.

(10:45 AM): Summit’s official estimate for midnight ticket sales is $26.27 million.

THE TWILIGHT SAGA: NEW MOON has set a new record for opening midnight shows with an estimated gross of $26.270 million playing at 3,514 theaters for a per theater average of $7,476. THE TWILIGHT SAGA:NEW MOON passes HARRY POTTER AND THE HALF-BLOOD PRINCE ($22.2 million) to take the number one spot.* Following POTTER is DARK KNIGHT ($18.5 million).

In addition to THE TWILIGHT SAGA: NEW MOON, last night Summit re-issued TWILIGHT in theaters. The film grossed $1.3 million playing at 2,057 theaters for a per theater average of $631. The re-issue of Twilight came in just outside the top 15 for the week this is notable especially considering that all came from just 9 PM Thursday night shows.

Mötet skedde under lanseringen av ”New moon” i Paris i förra veckan. Enligt Diane Nutley har den stora dagen dröjt fram tills nu eftersom Rob och Kristen har hållit kärleken hemlig då de själva ”inte visste om de var ett par eller inte”.

Hon avslöjar även att mamma och pappa Pattinson ska få träffa Kristen igen i Los Angeles senare i veckan.

L&S: You and Taylor both gained 30 pounds of muscle. Did you hold weight-lifting contests?
Chaske Spencer: We were all really competitive and supportive of one another. One time, I had the highest score on this rowing machine, and the next day I came in and Rob [Pattinson] had beaten me — he worked out at night, and the wolves came in during the day. I beat him again, but on the last day of shooting, I came in and he’d beaten me by a second.

L&S: Do people ever ask you to take off your shirt?
Chaske Spencer: All the time! Just seeing myself shirtless on the posters makes me very self-conscious. When the Twilight saga’s over, I’m not going to the gym for a while.

L&S: This is your first movie. What was it like working with veteran Dakota Fanning?
Charlie Bewley: She’s wonderful. The most impressive thing is the way she works the camera with her eyes. Dakota has a wonderful stillness for a 15-yearold actress. It’s something most people don’t master in a lifetime.

L&S: Do girls swoon over your accent, or are they unable to understand you?
Charlie Bewley: It’s a bit of both. I’ve never been asked out by an American woman, though. The one physical commonality my girlfriends have had is that they have disproportionately large heads. It’s kind of weird.

Ashley Greene: “Oh my god, that wardrobe!”

It was gorgeous. Did you get to keep anything?

Ashley Greene: “I got to keep some of the stuff in the second one. But it’s hard because you never know if you’re going to re-shoot, and so they want to keep the clothes. And then because of how crazy this whole thing is, it’s really hard.”

You look absolutely gorgeous in New Moon.

Ashley Greene: “Thank you.”

And you get to drive a Porsche.

Ashley Greene: “I get to drive a Porsche. I got to go to Italy, I got to wear amazing clothes.”

You couldn’t ask for anything better?

Ashley Greene: “No.”

So how was driving that Porsche?

Ashley Greene: “A little intimidating. It’s like a piece of machinery. It’s metal over turbo and they only had one, so they were like, ‘If you crash this, you’ll ruin the movie.’ And I had to drive it and there were pedestrians and this little, skinny walkway that I’m driving in. But it was really good.”

Your role as Demetri in New Moon is your first big break. Tell me about life before Twilight – what were you doing for a living and how did you first pursue acting?

Alex Meraz: And accent.

Edi Gathegi: Well, if they recognize me, right? If they recognize me, then they’ll be like, you’re an amazing actor because you’re able to transform and make yourself completely different. Because we’re doing a lot of interviews and putting ourselves out there, now people are starting to make the connection that I’m the actor in the movie. I’m getting almost as much recognition for the dreadless Edi as the Edi that’s ready to rock.

Alex: Which I’ve got to say — I’ve watched the trailer a lot now because of doing these publicity events and when I see Edi doing Laurent I’m always blown away by his acting chops. Man he’s like a completely different person from the Edi I know. Edi’s a beast!

Edi: It’s an act, dude! You heard it here first, J-14!

J-14: Edi, so what do you have to say about Alex?

Alex: He don’t have nothing to say about me because he apparently fast forwarded the scenes that he wasn’t in the movie when he watched the film.

Edi: Get out of here!

Alex: No, he fast-forwarded through everything but his own scenes, so he hasn’t seen the whole movie!

Edi: Alex under my tutelage is going to be a great actor.

Robert Pattinson: It really depends on the mood. When I met you last year [before Twilight came out], I was doing interviews very sporadically and I never got recognized. Now it’s like anywhere I go there’s immediate recognition. So there’s more of a responsibility…

Stewart: I don’t mind working every day. It’s just, suddenly, I have this other role. And that’s really disappointing. All I’d like to do is go outside with a book and figure out what to do with the day. And if I can’t do that, then I’m just going to sit in my hotel room on my balcony and chain smoke. [Pauses] I’m going to stop smoking. I’m not such a good smoker, anyway. It’s not in my bones. I’m gonna drop it.

Pattinson: The three of us have been working for two years [straight]. It does feel like your day has a shape just as soon as you wake up. I just forget what it’s like when you’re free.

EW: Taylor, you’re the only one who almost lost a shot at the sequels. Do you have a different relationship with fame because you had to fight for your job?

Lautner: No, I kept my eye on the prize 100 percent of the time. I was motivated. I wasn’t even thinking about anything else.

Stewart: Thank God you got the job. I wouldn’t have wanted to deal with you if you didn’t. After all those months of working out!

Lautner: I just wanted to focus on what I could control, and I worked really hard.

EW: You mean in the gym? Because I see your abs everywhere these days.

Lautner: Yeah, the gym was a major part, but I really studied the books and the character, too. And it all turned out good.

Pattinson on his hair in Eclipse: I swear to you I’ve never experienced anything like this. It’s every single day. In Twilight, they wanted me to have extensions down to my hips.

Stewart: He’s a liar. He doesn’t remember. He’s remembering how they made him feel, but they were just, like, down to here [pointing to her shoulders].

Pattinson: So I told them, “Look, that’s just not going to happen.” I said, “It looks like this already – I’ll come to set like this.” I sound so stupid, but in a lot of ways the hair is 75 percent of my performance, so in the second one I said, “Listen, I need to tone down the hair. Let’s make it a little more real, a little bit more…Method.” [Laughs] And then in the third one, I’m doing fight scenes and there’s a strand going down my forehead and they’re like, “We need to do it again because no one will recognize you! No one will know who it is!” I’m like, really, is my face that generic?

Stewart: They want proof that you’re doing your own stunts, man!

Pattinson: I have to look like the poster at all times. Just in case they want to use any clip for the trailer. Any clip at all! There were about five people in different departments who, because of my forelock, ended up in tears.

EW: Kristen, it must be nice to watch the guys’ appearances get obsessed over for a change.

Stewart: Seriously, it’s a trip to sit back and look at the sexual objectification of these dudes. I’ve never been asked to do any of this stuff.

EW: You guys are lucky. You clearly all dig each other.

Lautner: The amount of time we have to spend with each other – if I didn’t like these two, it would be exhausting.

EW: Rob, you made Remember Me this summer, between sequels. Was that the set in New York, where you were knocked into a cab by hordes of fans?

Pattinson: That was completely made up. I was walking across the street, and there was one cab going about one mile an hour and it nudged my leg. The story ended up being how I got hit by a cab because of a mob of screaming fans, [but] it was 4 o’clock in the morning and there was one person there – a paparazzi….And then there was another time – apparently they said on the news that I had a drug overdose. The security guy saw it on TV, and I wasn’t in my room, and he was like, “Uh-oh!” It’s just so weird. I wake up and my room is too messy to order room service, and so I end up eating a pack of M&M’s for breakfast – and it takes me about five hours to find it. That’s my first five hours of the day. [Laughing] And then you see the news and think, “Who cares if he had a drug overdose? It would probably make him more interesting!”

EW: Kristen and Rob, why do you think people are so obsessed with the state of your offscreen relationship?

Pattinson: Good question. That’s a little thing I have to think about every day.

Stewart: Maybe it’s just my personality, but I’m never going to answer it. I probably would’ve answered it if people hadn’t made such a big deal about it. But I’m not going to give the fiending an answer. I know that people are really funny about “Well, you chose to be an actor, why don’t you just f—ing give your whole life away? Can I have your firstborn child?”

EW: You don’t think just saying, for example, “Listen, we dated for a few months, it was weird, we’re better off as friends” would end the speculation?

Pattinson: No way.

Stewart: People are deeply judgmental and I’m not strong enough. I would love to be like, “I don’t care what anybody thinks.” But I’m a very private person. And think about every hypothetical answer: “Okay, we are. We aren’t. I’m a lesbian.” I’ve thought about this a lot. There’s no answer that’s not going to tip you one way or the other. I’m just trying to keep something. If people started asking me if I was dating Taylor, I’d be like, “F— off.” I would answer the exact same way.”

Nikki Reed: I think that’s what makes Bella so appealing though, is that everyone can relate to that time. I mean, if we’re going to associate her with, like, a completely healthy woman then I would have a lot to say about Bella — but she’s a kid. She’s a kid and we forget because Stephenie [Meyer] has created such an adult relationship between Bella and Edward. You forget that Bella is still just a kid who lives with her dad, who’s very opinionated and very self righteous in a certain sense, but she still needs guidance. This is just her perspective, you know what I mean?

Hi everybody!

I wanted to apprise you all of a few upcoming things.

You know I’ve been doing the hermit thing this last year, in so far as media is concerned, and I’m not changing that now, but I am making an exception. I’m doing this for a good reason: I am so pleased and amazed and thrilled with what Chris Weitz has done with New Moon that I want to talk about it, and to show my support for him. And since I’m only doing one interview, better make it big. Really big. So….I will be on The Oprah Winfrey Show on Friday, November 13th. Check the local listings on Oprah’s website to find out what time it will be on where you live.

Of course, most of the questions for Oprah will be designed for a broader audience than just die-hard Twilight fans, and I imagine people who read this site and other fansites will already know most of the answers. To rectify this, I’m going to answer your more specific questions on-line. The official Twilight Saga website (www.TheTwilightSaga.com) will be taking any New Moon movie-related questions you might have for me, and then I’ll answer those most frequently asked. I’ll post the answers on the Twilight Saga website and also here on my own site. The nationwide kicked off last night and will run until November 19th. Fans will treated with performances by several bands featured on the New Moon soundtrack including Death Cab for Cutie, Anya Marina, Sea Wolf, and Band of Skulls.

The New Moon Cast’s next stop? Tonight (Friday, November 6) at the Hollywood & Highland Center Hot Topic Store in Los Angeles.

Who’s expected to be there? Kellan Lutz, Nikki Reed, Jamie Campbell Bower, Alex, Kiowa, Ashley Greene, Elizabeth Reaser, and Chaske.

Note the major differences besides the fur color change:

The eyes are more slanted, reminiscent of the wolf in ‘300′, and gives off a menacing stare.

The upper set of fangs are more pronounced and appear aged, giving an impression of past battles and well, a darn scary bite.

The fighting snarl created by the narrower snout also makes the wolf more intimidating.

All in all, I see welcome changes in the right direction. I’m pleased to see the Summit guys constantly tweaking this movie to make it better and not resting on their Twilight laurels. True, it has a lot more to live up to, but I can’t help but notice that Summit’s been much more active in listening to fan feedback and applying it to the movie in realtime. New Moon promises to be the true Fan’s Film that we are all hoping for it to be.

J-14: Your background is in martial arts, just like Taylor Lautner — how do your skills compare?

Alex Meraz: I’m better. (Laughs) No, you know Taylor, you’ve gotta look at the difference. Taylor is 17, I’m 24. I’ve been doing it a lot longer. And as of recently, I’ve really become more of an actor now. This is what I’m heavily relying on in terms of survival and what I’m really into now. But a couple of months ago, I was still training and considering doing mixed martial arts like cage fighting. So I’m without a doubt — without trying to be an ego maniac — better!

J-14: So if Jacob wasn’t a werewolf and Edward wasn’t a vampire, do you think Mike would have a better chance?

Mike: Yeah, I do — although ultimately, I don’t think a Mike-Bella relationship would have worked out particularly well because it’s one of those situations where one person is clearly more infatuated with the other person and it doesn’t quite go the other way around. Those situations don’t typically tend to work out, especially in high school. So I actually think Mike and Bella’s relationship is perfect the way it is, but it’s probably difficult for Mike to see that while he’s going after her.

J-14: What was it about the role of Jacob that drew you to him?

Taylor Lautner: I guess the fact that I'm a lot like him. When Jacob's human, he's really friendly and outgoing and talkative, but his other side -- his werewolf side -- he's very fierce and grumpy... and that's totally opposite of me. It's fun to play somebody who's just like me, but then it's cool as an actor to challenge myself to play something totally opposite of me!

J-14: You enjoy that contrast and balance?

Taylor:Yeah and Jacob is both of that, so that's pretty cool.

CS: We had a couple of girls specifically fly in and they got rooms at our hotel and they would wait there. Girls would also camp out right below our hotel balconies. You would look over the balcony and wave and just hear screams. There were a couple of girls that got on the set of Eclipse. It was really funny because I don’t think they expected to make it that far. Once they got there, they just stood there with these wide eyes. Then they realized they got through security – and security is pretty tight! They had to get escorted off, but I give them credit for getting through

CS: Alex Meraz.
17: The smartest?
CS: Tyson Houseman.
17: The funniest?
CS: Bronson Pelletier.
17: The best looking?
CS: Kiowa Gordon. We called him heartthrob.
17: The clumsiest?
CS: Me! This is a new body I have. It’s like I’m going through a growth spurt, like a 13-year-old.

In “Twilight” you play Eric Yorkie who was not written specifically as an Asian American character. Tell us about the role.

He’s supposed to be white but Catherine Hardwicke, the director of the first film, went to the producers and studio and convinced them to hire me for the part. There’s never any mention of my character being Asian or any talk of his ethnicity.

Do you think that’s a good thing?

I think it’s great. It does matter but at the same time I have nothing against playing ethnic specific parts. It’s wonderful to get those opportunities. It’s needed and there definitely is a place for it.

But just the fact that “Twilight” is such a pop culture phenomenon made this a huge movie that a lot of people are seeing. I think it’s very important that people watch this movie and go “Hey, that guy goes to my high school.”

I mean why do we have to see this character as a certain type of person when it could be anybody. He could be Black, White, Mexican, Asian. I think high school is a good example of that. “Twilight” is reaching so many people and I think it’s a really good step in the right direction for diversity and opening up doors.

If you weren’t playing humans, which would you prefer to play: a vampire or a werewolf?

Anna: I would personally rather be a werewolf since they seem to get to have a lot more fun. The vampires are very cool, but they have to be very calm and collected all the time. The werewolves get to let loose a little bit more.

Michael: I’d much rather play a vampire. Being a vampire would be cool, I think, for the first 100 years or so. It’d be fun to be able to play because vampires are just too cool; they’re just sexy and interesting and complicated.

Christian: I’d play a wolf. I’d play Leah, ’cause she’s sassy.
